Barbados is truly unique. It is undoubtedly a beautiful island, much like its Eastern Caribbean neighbors, but the island country is quite isolated in the Atlantic Ocean, with its nearest neighbor planting 100 miles away. There’s so much to do on this gorgeous Caribbean Island, so don’t be mislead into thinking it’s just a dream spot for “lounging by the beach” or sun-bather. The Culture, natural history, food (like Oistins Fish Fry), and people make Barbados a great island for a delicious Caribbean lifestyle.

You must surely take these suggestions on what to see and do on this gorgeous Caribbean Island. Take a look below on the best things to do in Barbados.

1. Swim With the Tortoises

Leatherback and hawksbill sea turtles are some of the top attractions in Barbados. Tortoise feed and breed in the clean, calm waters along Barbados west coast, and several tour operators will take you offshore with these beautiful, friendly creatures to swim in. Especially if you love wildlife, it is one of the best things to do in Barbados. Take a swim around the shore, and it is guaranteed that you will see some tortoises. Please remember to be respectful of their surroundings and do not touch or communicate with the tortoises.

2. Find a Secret Beach

There are no private beaches in Barbados. Not even a single one! Each beach is open for the public so that everybody can appreciate the beauty of its beautiful coastline. One great thing about this law is that you can ‘discover’ a little piece of paradise every day.

3. Visit Animal flower cave

Located in the northern tip of the Island, Animal Flower Cave is a perfect place to start exploring the wilder and more spectacular east coast area of Barbados. Take an underground ride and head for this stunning view into the Atlantic Ocean inside the cellars. It is one of the greatest things to do in Barbados, and if you love the Island’s rougher side, then you must visit it.

4. Oistins Fish Fry a must-try

It is one of the top attractions in Barbados. Oistins Fish Fry is a popular hangout for both tourists and residents. It is a great place to spend your time on Friday night.

Watching residents play dominoes and even listening to the Caribbean beats that fill the room with some delicious food, is a great way to end your Friday night on this Island. It is indeed one of the nicest options to do in Barbados on a Friday night.

5. Check out the rainforests

Approximately 40 minutes north from the capital city Bridgetown is one of the most magnificent forests in Barbados. Take a drive and head straight for this wonderfully green countryside. If you want to enjoy a little hike, it is a great place to go! There are no spiders or poisonous snakes to worry about, so explore it to the core.
